Las pinturas murales que hay en la gruta de Lascaux revelan la conciencia de la muerte que ya tenía el hombre posterior al homo faber, el homo ludens. Georges Bataille hace una interpretación de ese sitio en su obra Lascaux o el nacimiento del arte, publicada en 1955, con la intención de mostrar por qué el erotismo se opone al mundo del trabajo.
